Redeveloping and rebuilding portions of a historical educational institution in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Challenge

To update an existing building – built in 1959 – to meet today’s standards for construction and safety.

This project requires the redevelopment of interior and exterior structural steel and miscellaneous metals to turn the former high school into a state-of-the-art retirement complex. Part of this work included the construction of new canopy framing at the proposed main entrance of the facility.

The Steelfab Solution

We completed site measurements and prepared show drawings to ensure new structural elements integrated with the existing elements – all at the correct elevations and alignements. We fabricated, supplied, and installed structural steel and miscellaneous metals in accordance with the drawings and specifications. Items installed include handrails, floor infills, and installing a new elevator shaft.
